Laboratory Technician for the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering

The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) of University of Macau invites applications for the position of Laboratory Technician (equivalent to Senior Administrative Assistant/Administrative Assistant) at a taxable monthly salary ranging from MOP25,380 to MOP43,240 (index 270 – 460).

Responsibilities

Be responsible for the operation, management and safety of laboratories of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, take care of the laboratory facilities, experiment instruments, tools, inventory, etc.;

Be responsible for the laboratory instrument operation, maintenance and purchase, especially for instruments used for geotechnical engineering, surveying, or other civil engineering related disciplines;

Inspect and evaluate workspace environment, equipment and practices to ensure compliance with University safety standard and/or government regulations;

Assist in the preparation for teaching experiments, provide technical assistance and address any issues arising during and after experiment classes;

Provide support to various science projects and other activities that take place in laboratories;

Maintain precise records of laboratory equipment, computational hardware and software, and laboratory inventory to ensure proper utilization;

Perform the procurement process for lab-related and project-related purchase / acquisition;

Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and international best practices, and identify areas of continuous improvement;

Assist in the academic activities for the Faculty;

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or above in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or equivalent, Master’s or Doctoral degree is preferable;

Minimum 2 years and 4 years of full-time working experience for the rank of Administrative Assistant and Senior Administrative Assistant respectively, preferably with laboratory working experience, laboratory instrumental maintenance and repair experience;

Knowledge about advanced IT technologies and laboratory safety protocols is preferable;

Recognized safety related certifications or professional qualification is preferable;

Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese);

Highly motivated, good communication skills, strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently.
