Established in 2002, the Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences (ICMS) is an academic centre of excellence in Chinese medicine as well as biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences in the region. It hosts the State Key Laboratory of Mechanism and Quality of Chinese Medicine (SKL-MQCM), as well as Macao Centre for R&D in Chinese Medicine, UM Centre for Pharmaceutical Regulatory Sciences, UM Macao Centre for Testing of Chinese Medicine and Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Over the past decade, the Institute has established an international reputation in conducting high-quality research with special emphasis on Chinese medicine quality research, drug discovery and development, immunopharmacology, systems pharmacology, molecular pharmaceutics and regulatory sciences. It has secured outstanding funding support from both national and regional governments and built long-term strategic collaborations with top academic organizations around the world. ICMS/SKL-MQCM invites applications for the position of Research Assistant (Animal Laboratory or related field), to maintain the laboratory environment & safety, assist in the management and safety of laboratory animal centre, the animals’ welfare, the diagnosis and treatment for laboratory animal, equipment use and training for laboratory users, and other laboratory-related activities.

Initial appointment is up to 12 months with a possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and mutual agreement.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree or above, in Genomics, Veterinary, Biotechnology, Life Science, Bioinformatics or Molecular Biology related disciplines; preference will be given to applicants who hold a Master’s degree in genomics;
2. Fresh graduates are welcome;
3. Experience in animal experiments and management is preferred;
4. Relevant research or working experience would be an advantage;
5. Responsible, motivated and initiative personality;
6. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin);
7. Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment;
8. Willing to take challenges and able to work under pressure.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty as soon as possible. 

Remuneration
Remuneration offered will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
