The Department of Arts and Design of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites applications for the position of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor in Industrial Design.

According to the current plan, a Faculty of Design will be established at the new campus, comprising a Department of Architecture and Urban Design. The department will offer undergraduate and postgraduate degrees programmes.

Qualifications

1. Doctoral degree (or equivalent terminal degree) in Industrial Design or related fields; 2. A track record in teaching and research in one or more of the following areas of industrial design: a. advanced technology; b. intelligent interaction and UI/UX design; c. product service systems; d. sustainable design; e. history, theory and criticism; 3. Extensive experience as a practitioner and educator for senior positions; 4. Significant record of industrial experience, design projects, major awards and grants is preferred; 5. Proficiency in design software and emerging technologies; 6. Comprehensive experience in teaching and supervising both postgraduate and undergraduate students is an advantage; 7.  Proficiency in English is required, and proficiency in Chinese is an advantage for senior positions.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty as early as August 2025.

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,250,200 (approximately USD154,350) for the position of Full Professor, MOP1,052,800 (approximately USD129,980) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions. Additionally, applicants should provide no more than six samples of academic writing/publications/essays/catalogues, and sample syllabi of classes previously taught.
