Job Overview
The Communications Coordinator reports to the Communications Manager and is responsible for assisting and implementing various communications and development initiatives for TIS. These include promoting TIS's programs, events, and achievements to both internal and external audiences. The Communications coordinator works closely with different teams and stakeholders to ensure effective communication strategies are in place.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Internal Communications: The Communications Coordinator facilitates effective communication within the school community. Develop and implement strategies to ensure clear and timely dissemination of information to staff, students, and other families. This may include assisting with the development of internal newsletters, email communications and social media.
- TIS Website management: create engaging and informative content for the website. This includes writing and editing text, selecting and curating relevant photos, and ensuring content is updated regularly.
- Social Media Management: help manage the school's social media presence including platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Youtube and LinkedIn, etc. and assist in creating engaging content, respond to comments and messages and enhance the school's online reputation.
- Branding and Messaging: work closely with the Communications Manager and team to develop and maintain a consistent brand image and messaging across all communication channels. Assist in ensuring that all communications align with the school's mission, vision and values.
- Event promotion: support event planning and promotion efforts. This includes creating event deliverables, manage event listings on the website and social media, coordinate media coverage when applicable.
- Media contact: coordinate interviews and press opportunities and build relationships with journalists and media outlets. Provide accurate information about the school. Assist in handling media contact, including drafting press releases and managing media requests for interviews and sending invites to media press for events hosted by TIS.
- Advertising Placement: oversee the placement of advertisement for school events, programs and initiatives, such as Open House, graduation and other activities.
- Content creating and Copywriting: responsible for creating high-quality written content, including press releases, social media posts, news stories, articles, newsletters and reports and other promotional materials as needed.
- Internal Collaboration: with various departments and admin team to gather information, stories and updates for communication purposes.
- Crisis Management: disseminate accurate and timely information to internal and external stakeholders during crisis or emergency situations. Work with the school administration and follow communication plans and protocols.
- School Publication coordination: assist in coordinating school publications, including the School's magazine Insight, annual report, yearbook and other publications. Help with content development, gathering information, conducting research and interviews, coordinating with the team's designer to ensure production deadlines are met. Proofread and edit publications for accuracy and quality.
- Marketing and Enrollment Support: assist in marketing and enrollment efforts by creating promotional materials, managing advertising campaigns, and participating in recruitment events.
- Photography support: assist the Communications team in managing the social media accounts and may be involved in capturing photos and video of school events, activities and achievements. Ensure the content is of high quality and aligns with the school's branding messaging.
- Customer Journey Management: assisted admission's team in mapping out and manage the customer journey for prospective students and their families. Develop strategies to enhance the experience from initial inquiry to enrollment, ensuring personalized and informative communication at each touchpoint.
- TIS liaison for TISPA funded projects
Qualifications
- Post secondary diploma or degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or related communications field is preferred
- 3+ years experience in a communications or marketing role
- Candidates must hold a Macau ID
- Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in English and Chinese
- Highly collaborative style and ability to work well as a member of a team
- Event management and organization experience is preferred

TIS was established in 2002 to provide a Canadian curriculum and accreditation to local and expatriate students. It opened with an initial total enrolment of 58 students on the campus of Macau University of Science and Technology.
By 2006, the school had grown to over 500 students and moved into the first phase of its new, purpose-built facility on the MUST campus. It also became accredited with the Ministry of Education in Alberta, Canada.
