The Faculty of Medicine (FMD) was established in August 2026 through the expansion and restructuring of the former Faculty of Health Sciences. The Faculty’s educational mission is delivered through five academic departments: the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Department of Clinical Medicine, Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Department of Public Health and Medicinal Administration, and Department of Medicinal Food and Nutrition Sciences. Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine is one of the key strategic research focuses of FMD.

The Faculty of Medicine (http://fmd.um.edu.mo/) invite applications for the position of Full, Associate, or Assistant Professor in Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine.

Successful candidate will be expected to provide academic and strategic leadership in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, develop internationally recognizable research programmes, and foster interdisciplinary collaborations within the University and with leading institutions worldwide. Working closely with the current faculty members in this field, the candidate will play a key role in shaping UM’s development, strengthening its research capacity, building high-impact research teams, and advancing translational research. The candidate will also contribute to the Faculty’s educational mission through teaching, postgraduate supervision, and academic programme development. Through the excellence in research, teaching, and services, the successful candidate will help strengthen UM’s position as a leading centre for basic and translational research, innovation, and talent development.

Qualifications
A doctoral degree in biological sciences, biotechnology, health sciences, medicine, or a related discipline. Candidates are expected to have well-recognized track record in developmental biology, stem cell biology, regenerative medicine, and/or cell and gene therapy, demonstrated through publications in leading international journals. Competence also includes success in obtaining competitive research funding, editorial board memberships, and invited presentations at major international conferences. Preference will be given to candidates whose research is either clinically relevant or has great potential for clinical translation. For Assistant Professor, it is preferable to have three years or above of postdoctoral training. Senior candidates should have demonstrated strong academic leadership, experience in leading interdisciplinary research initiatives, and the ability to build internationally competitive research programmes and mentor junior researchers.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in 2026/2027.

Remuneration
A taxable annual remuneration starting MOP1,250,200 (approximately USD154,350) for the position of Full Professor; MOP1,052,800 (approximately USD129,980) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
