The Institute of Collaborative Innovation (ICI) serves as the core platform for the research innovation and technology transfer system at the University of Macau (UM), acting as a crucial hub that bridges academic research with social needs. ICI focuses on four core areas: “research & technology commercialization and incubation, professional technical services, innovative talent development, and cross-border collaborative innovation.” It is dedicated to building a comprehensive, full-chain innovation ecosystem from basic science popularization and laboratory R&D to market commercialization. By effectively integrating cutting-edge research resources within the university and aligning them with industrial capital and market demands, ICI continuously improves the mechanism for research innovation and commercialization, assisting UM in building a comprehensive and high-level innovation system. Meanwhile, through the cultivation of professional talents and the deepening of social collaboration, ICI continuously supports the moderate economic diversification of Macao and strengthens the local reserve of technological talents. ICI invites applications for the position of Research Assistant. The appointee will provide research support, including data collection, case studies and analysis, editing and proofreading promotional materials, coordination between start-ups, research projects, scholars and experts for the translation of research outcomes, and assisting with other relevant work as required. Initial appointment is up to 12 months with a possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement and funding availability.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree or above in Public Utilities Management, Public Administration or related disciplines, possession of a Master’s degree is strongly preferred;
2. Prior experience in research support, administrative roles, or industry-academia collaboration will be an advantage;
3. Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to evaluate the commercial value of the research projects under the incubation scheme and accelerator program;
4. Solid understanding of both innovation and entrepreneurship;
5. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a multi task environment;
6. Ability to collaborate effectively with start-ups, research teams and experts across diverse disciplines;
7. Experience in data handling, analysis, or visualization;
8. Good command of both English and Chinese.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in as soon as possible.

Remuneration

Remuneration offered will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
